Nippon Koei Co., Ltd Japan in Joint Venture with KPMG Advisory Services Pvt. Ltd & Nippon Koei India Pvt. Ltd., are executing the Project Management Consultancy Contract with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) under the ownership of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying of the Government of India. The outlay of the Project is INR 1568.28 Cr of which nearly 59% has been borrowed by GOI from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as Official Development Assistance Loan (ODA), nearly 30% is a separate contribution of GOI and remaining nearly 11% would be contributed by the participating institutions (Coop/MPC). Key objective of the scheme is to increase sales of milk and dairy products by increasing farmers’ access to organized market, upgrading dairy processing facilities and marketing infrastructure and enhancing the capacity of producer owned institutions, thereby contributing to increase in return to milk producers in the project area. The Project covering the Components under the scheme are . (i) Strengthening Milk Procurement Infrastructure, (ii) Milk processing facilities and manufacturing facilities (milk & milk products and cattle feed), (iii) Support for Marketing infrastructure, (iv) Support for ICT Infrastructure, (v) Productivity Enhancement, (vi) Project Monitoring and Studies, (vii) Training and capacity development.
Implementation of the Project has been identified in 9 states namely Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Uttarakhand.
Activities covering Scheduling of Training Programme for the PIs are being taken up: With the support from CT group and also the external agencies to facilitate the training module and content on Business Management. Area of Food Safety is also one of the important activity that is being taken up in the Project. Participating Institutions (PIs) and Co-operatives do play a vital role in making the scheme successful in implementation.
